Having tasted extensively with direct-to-digital release of films during the covid-19 pandemic, and seeing a short gap between theatrical and OTT Release, some of the makers are now focusing to delay the OTT Release. Till now we have seen films available on a digital streaming platform within three to four weeks of its big screen debut. Since after seeing the Collections for movies like Krack, RED, Naandhi, Uppena, 30 Rojullo Preminchadam Ela and Jathi Rathnalu at Box Office, the Tollywood producers are very keen about increasing the gap for Digital Release.
One the other side, there is a request from distributors and Theaters owners to delay the popular movie releases on digital streaming platforms. So, we can expect an increase in OTT gap for movies with good hype and Popularity at Theaters from Summer, 2021. However, movies with good promising content but lesser audience attention are still focused to release directly on OTT platforms.
