Shaakuntalam Movie: Cast & Crew, Release Date, Plot and More | Gunasekhar, Samantha Akkineni

Th upcoming PAN Indian movie “Shaakuntalam (2021)” directed by Tollywood Ace director Gunasekhar is all set for shoot in the new year. The makers have officially confirmed that Samantha Akkineni will be playing the lead role while another lady Neelima Guna will be producing the film. Manisharma who is back with iSmart Shankar, Acharya and many other Telugu movies is composing the music of this film. As we all know, there are many Super Hit musical tracks in Manisharma and Gunasekhar combination. Movies under their combination, Okkadu, Arjun, Choodalani Vundi are the biggest Blockbusters till date.

Samantha was seen in a couple of lady oriented films such as U Turn (2018), Oh! Baby (2019), etc. These two films were Super Hits and she is now signed for Shaakuntalam directed by Gunasekhar. The previous Historical film of Gunashekar “Rudhramadevi (2015)” starring Anushka Shetty in lead role is a moderate Hit at Box Office.

Movie Story and Plot

Though it is a  Historical/ Mythology Drama, Gunasekhar wants to show this movie from Shakuntala’s point of View as an Epic Love Story. This is made as a PAN Indian Project, we can expect this film in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil languages.

Who is Shakuntala?

In Hindu mythology, Shakuntala is the wife of Dushyanta and the mother of Emperor Bharata. Her story is told in the Mahabharata and dramatized by many writers, the most famous adaption being Kalidasa’s play Abhijnanashakuntala
