The first Telugu silent film, Bhishma Pratigna, was made by Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu and his son R. S. Prakash in 1921. The first talking motion picture, Bhakta Prahlada (1932 film), was produced by H.M. Reddy, who also directed the first Telugu and Tamil bilingual talkie Kalidas (1931).
